In this itineray we suggest, following upwards the river Isuela, go rock climbing in places not specially difficult: Morata de Jalón and Calcena. To start with, you can go to Morata de Jalón. If you want to go to Calcena from Morata, go past the main square (palace of earl of Morata), turn right, past the railway and the river Jalón. You'll drive past some small villages, Chodes (interesting square), Arándiga, Mesones (mediaeval castle), Tierga, Trasobares and finally Calcena.
Rock climbing in Morata de Jalón and Calcena To continue your visit to the area, you must come back to Tierga and taking the road on the left go past Tabuenca towards the valley of the Ebro. If you aren't interested in climbing you can take an easier way following the itinerary La Almunia de doña Godina-Ricla-Fuendejalón-Borja-Veruela. In Veruela, visit its Cistercians monastery, well known for being the chosen place by Romantic poet Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer to recover from a serious illness. In fact he wrote there the "Letters from my cell" and some of his "Legends". (WEB)
Views of Monasterio de Veruela If you like Nature, you can hike between trees visiting the slopes of Mount Moncayo, and perhaps have lunch in Hospedería of Agramonte. (You also can get there by car). From there, the most adventurous can reach the top (1800 m. over sea level) along the existing path. (WEB)
Views of Mount Moncayo Finally, Tarazona (the little Toledo), offers an important monumental town which deserves been visited, especially its cathedral and mudejar churches, its Renaissance palace or its bullring, formed by homes with a ring-shape. If you're there in September, you may be lucky enough to be involved in the festivities of the "cipotegato".. (WEB)
